ign.land is a marketplace for buying and selling usernames. This page explains what we collect, why we collect it, and who can see it.

What we collect

• Account details: your display name, username, email address and a salted hash of your password. We never store the password itself.
• Google sign-in: if you use it, your Google account ID, the email on your Google account and a link to your profile photo. If you create your account with Google, the name on your Google account (or, if it has none, the part of your email before the @) becomes your display name, which is shown publicly on your listings and to anyone you trade with. We never see your Google password and we don't keep Google access tokens.
• Listings: the platform, username, price and description of anything you list.
• Orders: who bought and sold, the amount and the status.
• Messages: the messages you send and receive, including any photos and voice recordings, and the listing a message was about, if any.
• Profile photo: a photo you upload for your profile. It's cropped and resized in your browser before it's sent to us.
• Bids: the auctions you bid on, the maximum you set and when you bid.
• Forum posts: the threads and replies you post, edits to them, and the posts you like.
• Activity: when you were last active on the site, so we can show who's online now. It's updated at most once a minute while you're signed in.
• Payments: our payment provider processes payments and seller payouts. Card details go to them, not to us. We keep the references that link payments and payouts to orders and sellers.
• Cookies: one sign-in cookie that lasts up to 30 days, and two short-lived cookies used only while you sign in with Google (up to 15 minutes). We don't use advertising or analytics cookies.
• Technical data: our hosting provider may log IP addresses and requests, and we use IP addresses briefly to limit repeated sign-in attempts.

How we use it

To create your account and sign you in, show listings, profiles and the forum, run auctions, handle purchases and payouts, deliver your messages and notifications, moderate listings and posts, and prevent fraud and abuse.

Who can see it

• Everyone: your public profile (display name, username, bio, the month you joined, and your uploaded photo, or your Google photo unless you hide it), your listings, the usernames you've sold, your forum posts, and how many forum posts and live listings you have. You appear in the members directory, which also shows whether you're online now (active in the last few minutes). Links to your profile show a preview image made from the same details, and signed-in members can find you by username or display name to send you a message.
• Bidders and sellers: an auction's bid history shows each bid's amount and time with the bidder's username partly hidden (for example a***e). Nobody else sees the maximum you set. When an auction ends, only the seller sees the winner's display name and username.
• People you message: your display name, username and the messages between you. Messages, and the photos and voice messages in them, are only shown to the two people in the conversation. They're stored on our servers, so they aren't end-to-end encrypted.
• The other person in an order: your display name and username.
• ign.land admins: every live listing (including the seller's name and email), and every order, for moderation. Admins can also edit, lock, move and delete forum posts and threads.
• Service providers: our payment provider for payments and payouts (we send them your email address when you buy or set up payouts), Railway for hosting and the database, and Google if you use Google sign-in (when you connect Google from your account page we send Google your ign.land email so it can suggest the right account, and your profile photo loads from Google).

We don't sell your data or use it for advertising.

Keeping and deleting your data

We keep your account data, listings, bids, orders, messages and forum posts while your account exists. Deleting a listing removes it for good, unless someone has started buying it; then it's hidden but kept with the order. Auctions with bids are kept as a record of the sale. Deleting a forum post removes its text; the thread shows that a post was deleted. Replacing or removing your profile photo deletes the old one, and photos or recordings you upload but never send are deleted after a day. Read notifications are cleared after 60 days. Sign-in sessions expire after 30 days.

You can disconnect Google from your account page, which deletes the Google account ID, email and photo link we hold. If you signed up with Google, set a password there first so you can still sign in. To delete your account or get a copy of your data, contact us.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top.

By using ign.land you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.

Your account

You must be able to form a binding contract where you live. Keep your login details safe; you're responsible for what happens on your account.

Selling

• Only list usernames you control and are allowed to transfer. Many platforms limit or forbid selling accounts or usernames; following their rules is your responsibility.
• Never put passwords or recovery codes in a listing or a message.
• Listings go live as soon as they're posted, and each account can post one listing per hour. You can edit or delete a listing until someone buys it. We can remove any listing that breaks these terms.
• You can sell at a fixed price or by auction. An auction runs for the time you choose and can't be changed or cancelled once someone bids. If it ends with a bid that meets your reserve price (if you set one), you're agreeing to sell to the winner at the final price. If the winner hasn't paid within 3 days of the end, you can cancel the sale and list the username again.
• Any ign.land fee is shown on the Sell page. The fee that applies to a sale is the one in effect when the buyer purchases.

Buying

• Payments are handled by our payment provider and go to the seller when you buy. ign.land doesn't hold funds and is not an escrow service.
• The seller arranges the transfer with you in messages. We don't verify ownership and can't guarantee that a transfer happens or that a platform allows it.
• Problems with an order are handled case by case. Contact us if something goes wrong.

Auctions

• When you bid you set the most you're willing to pay. The site bids for you, one step at a time, only as much as needed to keep you in the lead, up to that amount.
• Bids can't be withdrawn. If you're the highest bidder when the auction ends and the reserve is met, you're committing to buy the username at the final price, and you have 3 days to pay. After that the seller may cancel the sale.
• Buy It Now, if the seller offers it, is available only until the first bid. While someone is paying with Buy It Now, bidding is paused; if they don't finish, the paused time is added back to the auction.
• Placing bids you don't intend to honour, or bidding on your own auctions through another account, isn't allowed.

The forum

• Your forum posts are public. Keep them on topic, don't post personal information about other people, and don't use the forum to get around the rules on selling.
• You keep ownership of what you post and give ign.land permission to show it on the site.
• Admins can edit, move, lock or delete posts and threads that break these terms.

Not allowed

Fraud, usernames that impersonate real people or brands, illegal or hateful content, spam, and harassment in messages or the forum. Photos and voice messages follow the same rules. We can suspend accounts that break these rules.

Other platforms

ign.land isn't affiliated with any platform listed here. Their names and logos belong to their owners and are used only to identify listings.

Liability

ign.land is provided as is. As far as the law allows, we aren't liable for losses arising from deals between users or from actions a platform takes on an account or username.

Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed.
